 Marcus has a well earned reputation for unearthing bloodstock bargains and turning dreams into reality for his owners. Four years ago he famously hit the jackpot when he bought an attractive, well-related yearling colt by the 2,000 Guineas winner Mark of Esteem at Tattersalls, Newmarket for the modest figure of 16,000 guineas.
 
Named Sir Percy the colt proved an outstanding two year old before winning the 2006 Derby at three and finishing a spirited second to George Washington in the 2,000 Guineas. By the time he retired to stud Sir Percy had earned £1,149,000 for his grateful owners Anthony and Victoria Pakenham.
 
Marcus has already embarked on the start of the annual autumn yearling sales marathon. For much of the last two months he has been working energetically at the leading bloodstock sales in England, Ireland and America buying well bred, correct yearlings with the scope to develop into talented racehorses.
