Marcus has trained numerous high profile horses to Group 1,2 and 3 victories. An example of Marcus’s and Kingwood House Stables success is Sir Percy, who won the 2006 Vodafone Derby with a last gasp run up the inside rail.

He was purchased from the yearling sales for only 16,000 guineas (just over £16,000).  When he retired to stud in 2007 his career earnings totalled over £1,149,000.  You can re-live Sir Percy’s dramatic Derby win, by watching the video edit at the bottom of the page.

Nayef also trained by Marcus, was bred by his owner Sheikh Hamdam al Maktoum. If he had passed through the sales ring as a yearling it is likely he would have made a large sum due to his blue blooded breeding.  During his career he won four Group 1 races, including the Dubai Sheema Classic and earned over £2,300,000 in prize money.
